PERIODONTOLOGY

SYNOPSIS:
Periodontology is a branch of dentistry that deals with the study of tooth supporting and investing structures (periodontium) including gingival, cementum, periodontal ligament membranes and alveolar bone, at health and disease.
It is taught in Year 3 through Year 4 of Doctor in Dental Surgery (DDS) programme. It is divided into Basic Periodontology and Clinical Periodontology, each of them covered in Year 3 and Year 4 respectively. Teaching-learning activities includes lectures, seminars, simulation clinics, consultation and clinical sessions. The curriculum is structured in order to be integrated with the basic science courses and with the rest of dental clinical courses.
