MODIFIKASI TINGKAH LAKU (BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION)
SINOPSIS
Kursus ini memfokuskan kepada prinsip asas pembelajaran yang membawa kepada pembentukan tingkah laku tertentu dan bagaimana kejadian-kejadian di persekitaran mempengaruhi tingkah laku tersebut. Ia bertujuan untuk memberi pemahaman kepada pelajar tentang strategi-strategi berkesan yang boleh digunakan dalam mengubah tingkah laku yang diidami. Kursus ini bermula dengan melatih pelajar membuat definisi dan menilai tingkah laku sasaran (target behavior) serta membuat pemerhatian, merekod dan mengraf tingkah laku tersebut bagi tujuan untuk mengukur perubahan. Teknik atau strategi berikut diajar dalam menangani tingkah laku bermasalah dan meningkatkan tingkah laku yang diidami: peneguhan, dendaan, peneguhan pembezaan, pelenyapan, pelaziman responden, kawalan rangsangan, prosedur latihan kemahiran tingkah laku, prosedur kawalan anteseden, memahami tingkah laku bermasalah melalui penilaian kefungsian, memanipulasi faktor anteseden dalam mengurangkan tingkah laku bermasalah, prosedur time-out dan kos respons, prosedur dendaan positif, token ekonomi dan etika dalam melaksanakan prosedur dendaan. Kursus ini disampaikan secara kuliah dan perbincangan.

SYNOPSIS
This course is designed to focus on the basic principles of learning that influence the formation and development of a specific behavior and how environmental events influence that behavior. It aims to teach students about effective strategies to change undesirable behaviors and increase the occurrence of the desirable behaviors. This course starts with teaching the students on how to define and measure the target behaviors as well as measuring behavioral changes through observation, recording and graphing the target behaviors. The following techniques and strategies in dealing with the problem behaviors and increasing the occurrence of the desirable behaviors are covered in this course: reinforcement, punishment, differential reinforcement, extinction, respondent conditioning, stimulus control, behavioral skills training procedures, antecedent control procedures, understanding problem behaviors through functional assessments, manipulating antecedents to decrease the problems behaviors, time-out and response cost procedures, positive punishment procedures, token economy and the ethics of conducting punishment techniques. This course is conducted via lecture and discussion.
