This course will be conducted through lectures, fieldwork, lab work, video session, field trip, and mini projects. Students will be exposed to basic principles of environmental health and science including human population and urbanization, preservation and management of the environment, and aspects of agriculture and food safety. Students will also be exposed to aspects of environmental pollution including air, water, noise, solid waste, and hazardous waste pollution. Apart from that, aspects of food hygiene, safety, and sanitation will also be touched. Next, students will be exposed to basic elements in occupational health and nuisance control. Aspects of public health will also be emphasized. This includes public health, housing, port health, and disasters as well as basic knowledge of risk assessment and epidemiology. At the end of the course, students will be exposed to legislative and education aspects of environmental and occupational health.
